Our environmental consulting and landscape architecture team is seeking an upper-level partner to support and expand its geospatial services and assist in the growth of our practice. The candidate will support a diverse range of projects, from single-site cartographic exercises to countywide analyses. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in geospatial services to be involved in business development, project strategy and approach, and project execution and production. This position requires independent drive, desire to work collaboratively, clear and pro-active communication style, and strong technical knowledge in applied geospatial technology for environmental planning and resource management projects.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain complex geospatial projects and tasks for simultaneous multiyear projects ranging in size and scale.
Contribute to all types of geospatial service offerings and capabilities, both internally and externally.
Develop and deploy field GPS and data collection systems; conduct staff training and provide troubleshooting.
Expand GIS capabilities by exploring new technologies and software, plus ways to improve existing methods, tools, and workflows.
Plan, design, and execute client-centered solutions, such as analytic models and methods; custom apps, scripts, and tools; databases and data products; web-based products and interfaces; and others.
Integrate a multitude of data types and formats, including CAD, LiDAR, KML/KMZ, into GIS workflows and products.
Produce and provide quality control for documents to support geospatial work products, including metadata, reports, and white papers.
Organic mentorship of peers and junior staff through project work and day-to-day tasks.
Serve as a technical resource for others to troubleshoot and resolve problems with GIS software and infrastructure.
Contribute to business development through sales and marketing.
Attend occasional in-person field visits, client meetings, and charettes/workshops throughout the greater Puget Sound region.
General Qualifications:
5-7 years of applied geospatial technology services for environmental projects.
Excellent writing, organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills are required.
Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS products, including ArcPro, Field Map and/or Collector, model-builder, as well as Microsoft Office and MS 365.
Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams and projects; desire to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Background in environmental sciences, planning, or other discipline complementary to Watershed’s existing services.
Strong entrepreneurial and interest in firm ownership is a plus.
Candidate must be eligible for full time work in the United States and willing to relocate to the great Seattle-Kirkland metro area upon hiring. Please state willingness to relocate and work eligibility in cover letter.
Geospatial Science Specific Qualifications:
Degree or certificate in GIS preferred; degree can be substituted with additional years of experience performing the responsibilities listed above.
Experience with drone/UAV and UAS technology is desired; FAA certification, a plus.
Proficiency with analytic tools and processes for management and assessment of watersheds, watercourses, habitat, forests and vegetation, and other natural sciences.
Proficiency in applied use of LiDAR, LiDAR post-processing, and remote sensing.
