The Watershed Company is a regional leader in science-based, sustainable design. Watershed is seeking qualified, fulltime (32 hours plus), mid- to senior-level landscape architect candidates who can be based regionally or in-office as preferred. Successful candidates will work with a multidisciplinary team of accomplished scientists, planners, arborists, and landscape architects in a growing 40-year-old employee-owned company based in Kirkland, WA. In addition to our Kirkland office, we have several offices conveniently located throughout the Puget Sound area, including:

Our growing landscape architecture department is seeking an upper-level partner to lead projects and assist in the growth of our practice. We work on a diverse range of projects, from small private mitigation projects to large public restoration work. Our primary focus is design and permitting of environmentally complex sites, as well as design that embraces creativity and innovation in achieving sustainability and ecosystem functional lift. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience and built projects to be a project lead, who will be involved in plan preparation and production and construction administration. This position requires independent drive, desire to work collaboratively, clear and pro-active communication style, and strong technical knowledge in landscape design and construction. Ideal candidate will be interested in supporting our existing restoration-based practice, with a desire to focus in on or expand into complementary work.
Responsibilities:
Simultaneous management of a diverse array of landscape architecture projects ranging in size and scale.
Oversee and contribute to all stages of project development, from project scoping through construction administration.
Organic mentorship of peers and junior staff through project work and day-to-day tasks.
Contribute to business development through sales and marketing.
Conduct in-person client meetings, pre-design site visits, and construction administration site visits throughout the greater Puget Sound region.
General Qualifications:
5 years of experience directly related to landscape architecture practice.
Excellent writing, organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills are required.
Experience managing design teams and projects; desire to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Experience writing scopes of work, project budgeting and responding to RFPs.
Strong entrepreneurial and interest in firm ownership is a plus.
Familiarity with local environmental regulatory processes and requirements is desired.
Landscape Architecture Specific Qualifications:
Licensed to practice in Washington State or eligible for reciprocity within six months of employment.
Portfolio of built work and experience with project implementation. If possible, please feature project experience with construction administration where candidate was also design lead.
Experience producing contract documents (i.e., plans, specifications, cost estimates).
Experience with and interest in public works and infrastructure projects is desired.
Proficiency in software programs used to execute landscape architecture projects from ideation through implementation, as well as attend or conduct virtual meetings, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Revit, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and MS 365, Zoom, etc.
Competency and experience in irrigation or lighting design a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $105k - $120k, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical/dental insurance, continuing education, performance bonuses, retirement program with future matched payments, and opportunities for ownership.
