The site, a former estate built during the early 1900’s and once-owned by Seattle lumber baron, has been operating as a winery for over 50 years. The Watershed Company landscape architects and ecologists collaborated as part of the new master plan for the winery.
Ecologists screened over 60 acres to identify, delineate, and classify on-site wetlands and streams. The study informed decisions related to redevelopment of the winery facility, including new parking lot layout, road widening, and stormwater facilities.
In coordination with the winery’s redevelopment plan, The Watershed Company landscape architects developed a comprehensive stream and wetland buffer mitigation plan which removed nearly a quarter-acre of existing stream buffer impact while enhancing and restoring more than five times the area in of stream and wetland buffer. The plan utilized a plant palette which reflects the historic and aesthetically pleasing character of the winery while also remaining ecologically functional.
